MimiHammer Swimwear!

By Marcia B. - October 13, 2011

MimiHammer is the braindchild of Montreal designer, Camille Forcherio, a fashion design student who loves to create sexy, cute and satirical swimwear designs. Upon sourcing through Etsy, the bikini fashionista stumbled upon this unique swimsuit shop and fell in love with the fun and quirky spirit of the young Canadian designer. "The “MimiHammer Girl” is a girl who makes fashion a big part of her life. She’s wild and fearless when it comes to style and knows how to get attention" says designer Camille Forcherio. Every MimiHammer swimsuit is handmade with the utmost creativity, Camille is currently working on her next collection and the bikini fashionista can't wait to see what's in store. We caught up with the talented designer for a fun interview, read it below!

Why the name "MimiHammer"?

“Mimi” is my nickname given by my father.  As for the “Hammer”, this part has a little story behind it, it starts when I went to New York City for the very first time, I was shopping on Broadway and I found a top that really represented my personality:  an oversized brown knit top with the word “Hammer ” across it, written in a big red bloody font – this is my style.  The two words came together and clicked into MimiHammer.

We really enjoy the fun fabrics that you use in your swimsuit designs. How do you choose your fabrics?

I love fabrics! That’s a big obsession for me. I like to choose a lot of fabrics that really don’t match and create whimsical swimsuits out of them, the final product always turns out unique.

What swimwear designers do you love?

I’m in love with Agua Bendita, their designs are so beautiful! I also love Maaji and Beach Bunny Swimwear.

What is a bikini fashionista to you?

A bikini fashionista is someone who always brings the runway to the beach; she is fearless and absolutely not afraid of tan lines!
